I would like to take this opportunity to inform our valued clients that Foxwood Bird Boarding will be ceasing operations as of the end of October 2024. This decision has not been easy, but it is necessary due to an increased workload and the impending departure of the other half of Foxwood, who is pursuing an exciting new career opportunity.
I am committed to seeing the hard work and success of Foxwood Bird Boarding continue. As such, the business will be advertised for sale on the 13th of this month. With a 49.1% increase in turnover for the financial year ending June 2024, Foxwood Bird Boarding offers a unique opportunity for the right buyer to take on a growing business in a rewarding environment. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please feel free to contact me for a prospectus.
Zac and I have had an incredible time meeting wonderful people and amazing feathered friends over the past 28 months. We have greatly appreciated the trust you have placed in us to care for your flock during this time.
Kindest regards,
Michele
Foxwood Bird Boarding has grown from our love of birds and experience with many different bird breeds over many years. Foxwood is home to our own flock where we house, breed, care for and hand raise birds. We have extensive experience in keeping and handling large and small birds.
We offer the perfect holiday for your feathered friend, whether it's a short term, or long term stay.
We provide individual attention and care in a home away from home environment with provisions to ensure your bird is not bored, stressed, unhappy or over stimulated.
Foxwood Bird Boarding is an indoor environment - climate controlled in a smoke free home.
There are a few different options out there for boarding animals but very few specifically for boarding birds. We have done our homework prior to opening our fully registered and insured business. We found that there was not a single registered business within our catchment area of 40km radius of 2752 and there was a definite need.
Birds are very different to cats and dogs and do require specialist care and experience to ensure their wellbeing and safety. Birds often do not let you know there is something wrong until it is too late and it is important that you have a carer who is knowledgeable enough to see early signs of stress or illness especially in a new environment.
Being an owner of a bird does not necessarily make for a good carer for others' birds which is why we have ensured our due diligence in our expertise and experience throughout the years through foster care, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, membership with avian societies and communities and inclusion in a network of extremely knowledgeable and well respected breeders, to ensure we have the most up to date information and current issues pertinent to the avian world.
We have extensive experience in hand raising and breeding quality birds.
We also do work with specific birds for training, based on intelligence level of the breed. We will not take on unweaned birds as part of our boarding clientele as we understand the inherent risks and time involved in hand raising, but we do have contacts who may assist with hand raising. If you require further information about unweaned birds feel free to contact us.
Our short term rates options cover one day to 28 days.
We offer long term boarding options at competitive prices.
A 10% long term discount applies for bookings over 4 weeks.
We offer competitive pricing across all options and offer the added security of experience and expertise through a registered and insured business.
*** We have updated our fee schedule which will come into effect from January 31st. This is the first price increase we have implemented since opening with our introductory pricing which has been maintained for almost 2 years.
Pricing will not be increased for existing bookings made for time periods after 31st January.

Contact us to discuss your needs so we can provide you with a fair quote.
We do not charge extra for boarding of birds over public holidays, however, if you wish to pick up or drop off your feathered friends on a public holiday, a surcharge of $20 will be applied.
We offer enclosure usage. Each enclosure is cleaned daily and high pressure washed between birds. You are welcome to bring your own enclosure for your bird. It must be clean prior to arrival. If not pre cleaned, a cleaning fee of $10 will be incurred. The health of all birds at Foxwood Bird Boarding is paramount.
We offer veges, fruit and treats in the cost of our daily rates. We suggest you provide your bird with their own seed or pellet diet you use at home as it can assist your bird with the change in routine. We can, however, provide all food for a cost of $3 per day. We use Avigrain seeds and Passwell and Vetafarm pellets.
Appropriate fresh/cooked vegetables with fruits as a treat.
Water is changed at least twice per day with bowls washed.
Owners are to provide their bird with what they are used to eating. This will assist with stress for your bird. If you would prefer Foxwood to provide seeds/pellets for your bird's visit please advise, in advance, of the brand you use so we can ensure we have it ready. An additional cost will be applied.
Your bird's enclosure will be cleaned daily.
Your bird will interact with us daily. They will have music time and TV time during each day. We can also send you photo updates daily.
Our bird room is climate controlled. Fresh air is provided within the well ventilated room and air conditioning will be used for extreme days.
Our home is smoke free. All birds are secured within our bird room which is attached to our home.
Chlamydiosis/Psittacosis in Birds
A test for this disease should be done before boarding your bird. We cannot accept any birds which present with this disease.
PBFD is the most common and highly infectious viral disease among parrots. No bird will be accepted if it is showing signs of PBFD. PBFD is often fatal. We cannot accept any birds which present with this disease.
